Your Walk With God!

Greetings to you all in the matchless Name of our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ.

I want to talk to you all about our walk with God. It is not all about good beginnings but about how we finish it. Many have started the race so well and yet had fallen Short of Gods glory in the end.

The Bible talks of many such people and their lives. It’s not about having a wonderful stint but about holding on to His grace till the finish line.

Imagine a runner starting a cross country race starting so well and running fast only to get tired and weary in the middle and slacken the pace and finally not making it to the finishing rope, let alone him/her getting the coveted trophy, he/she will not be even congratulated for their participation. It is so sad to have such an end.

When we think of the big businesses this world has had, It’s crazy to think that 88% of the Fortune 500 firms that existed in the mid 1900’s are gone. These companies have either gone bankrupt, merged, or still exist but have fallen from the top. Most of the companies on the list in 1950’s are even unrecognisable, forgotten companies today. It doesn’t get any applause from the people of the world, on what they had achieved, when they lose it all completely and hit the ground and bite the dust. How much more our Spiritual race of Faith.

We see many giants of faith, Anointed kings falling down from grace even though they had Gods calling upon their lives. They weren’t able to obey His voice till the last breath and so are forgotten and have gone to the dust. Like King Saul, he died in the Mount Gilboa as God left him to be with David.

King Solomon started well by building the Temple in Jerusalem but ended up building up high places for Ashtoreth’s and other pagan idols, which were not gods and burnt incense to them. Judas Iscariot started well as an apostle and having gained power and authority from Jesus and seeing all that he had seen first hand of all the miracles Jesus had done, ended up betraying the son of God for 30 Silver pieces and hung himself on a tree and died.

David had small beginnings being left by His own father to take care of the sheep. David was forgotten by his family when Samuel asks him to bring all his children to see who God wants to Anoint as King over Israel. Missed by His own family not by God as God had seen David’s sincere heart was right in front of Him and did not leave him. Even when David lost the plot with Bathsheeba, when David turned around to fall at God’s feet and repented truly, and not at the feet of Nathan the Prophet. God restored him back to his feet and made him king of all Israel.

Apostle Peter denied Jesus thrice and even cursed him when Jesus saw him as the rooster crowed twice, the Bible says he wept bitterly and humbled himself and returned to Gods feet - ended the race so well, even unto being a martyr for the Lord and counted it so worthy.

Same with Saul of Tarsus Who was breathing threats at the Jews who were even talking on the Name of Jesus, with one encounter on the way to Damascus turned his life around to living a life of submission and being a martyr for Christ.

Now Paul the apostle speaks Words of Wisdom for those people running in Gods race when he writes to the people for Corinth. We read in 1 Corinthians 9:24-27, he says do you not know that those who run in a race all run, but one receives the prize? Run in such a way that you may obtain it. And everyone who competes for the prize is temperate in all things. Now they do it to obtain a perishable crown, but we for an imperishable crown. Therefore I run thus: not with uncertainty. Thus I fight: not as one who beats the air. But I discipline my body and bring it into subjection, lest, when I have preached to others, I myself should become disqualified.

Finally when he writes to Timothy his disciple and spiritual son in the book of 2 Timothy chapter 4: verses 6-8 we read ; That he was already being poured out as a drink offering, and the time of my departure is at hand.

I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith. Finally, there is laid up for me the crown of righteousness, which the Lord, the righteous Judge, will give to me on that Day, and not to me only but also to all who have loved His appearing.

God does not want us to be forgotten like the old companies in the middle 1900’s who started big, made it to the top and did not last till the end. It didn’t just go down by itself but took all the families that were dependent on them.

God wants our spiritual lives to be secured in the ark just like Noah and his family was secured in the ark in the time of flood . He didn’t say the one who starts well in the Kingdom of God will be saved but the one that endures till the last.

His heart is for us christians / believers to be with Him and for us to help save the rest of the world by preaching the gospel. When He shows up in the clouds with angels blowing the trumpet, that He May receive us into heaven and lay on us all the crown of life.

All we have to do is keep humble and bring our body, spirit , soul and mind in to the subjection of the Holy Spirit and the Lord Jesus, that we may be worthy of the calling and end the race well just like He did on the cross.

So folks I beseech you not to be too happy for having started the race well but be in submission and in prayer that you may end well. Lets pray earnestly to God today that we count everything in the world a loss and Jesus and our salvation as gain.
